I am a qualified Relationship Counsellor working with both individuals and couples in Falkirk and Edinburgh. As a member of BACP and COSCA, I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practise in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I gained my Diploma in Couple Counselling with Relationships Scotland and have been counselling since 2008. Before this I studied Social Studies and Social Care and later went on to complete my COSCA certificate in Counselling Skills. I have also worked with The Samaritans and I am trained in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues – relationship difficulties, encompassing communication issues, emotional distress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and infidelity. I also have experience in working with trauma, abuse, suicidal thoughts, and bereavement.
I started my counselling training in 2004 and work in an integrative way using both Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches. There are definitions of these and other approaches on the BACP website in the "it's good to talk" section.
